The Royal Lily was the emblem of French monarchs in the Middle-Ages. The lily is a Marian symbol used in Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt. French legends claim the symbol to be a stylized representation of a marsh iris adopted by Frankish King Clovis, despite the fact that the bulb, of the Liliaceae family, originated in the Sichuan Mountains of China. A dashing flower, when the lily blooms it reveals slender white trumpets, exuding a fragrant powder of orange pollen. Intoxicating and ravishing, its scent is sovereign.
